-2 indoor courts. Brand new hardwood, it is nice to finally get grip there. Good competition in The Gym Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-2PM

-Make sure to get there early as the gym gets packed quickly. Games to 9. No And 1s… I like that rule

-Good Competition

-2 outdoor courts open for all ballers. Nice outdoor court with real concrete, metal backboard and double rims!

-Games all day. Best around 6pm in the summer

-Court 1 Poor to average Comp

-Court 2 average to fair comp

Skidrow VS VBL Together as One…

VBL all star players (Mute, The General, Flip, Yaya, Dragon, 100,000 worth of hair and Nsum) came down to skid row to play a few games. Crushow and his crew gave us a warm welcome and a tough matchup of Glady’s park. The Voice of Skid Row and Commisioner Jeff were the host and kept it live the whole day. As to expect The Ambassadors played a really physical game but VBL came out on top for all 3 games with Flip hitting the deep 3′s and Mute with some fantastic dunks. Yaya had to shut the house down with some 360 windmill’s and between the legs slam dunks. General Jeff “you do not have to go to staples center to see the best athletes in the world battle it out, you can see it here live in Glady’s park…”

Skid row or skid road is a run-down or dilapidated urban area with a large, impoverished population. The term originally referred literally to a path along which workingmen skidded logs. After the games we took a walk around to see and document the lifestyle people live down there. Thousands of people living in the streets within a 2 or 3 city block range with no where to go. The smell down there is spicy Austin” smells like my old frat house”.

Catch some good runs any day of the week at this great park. Good competition and fun group of guys. Do not get fooled by the area, the playground is well maintained and the guys will show you a warm welcome. Say VBL sent you for world class welcome

JBL has to be the best league in Los Angeles ( No disrespect to Drew League or Say No). It happens all day in the heart of Hollywood @ Hollywood High. Lots of pros from over seas, nba players, streetball all stars, Vbl finests and old school veterans. JB runs the show and find your favorite Ref Mike D anouncing the games. DJ Alcatraz steady holding it down. One thing i noticed is that there is a very thin line between NBA caliber players and someone serious about basketball and some underdogs that might not even play pro anywhere will prove that to you

The Montalban Theater in Hollywood has one of the best court in the city. Sign by Nike you know they must go over the roof with that one. It seems like it will convert into a soccer court as the world cup is coming up this summer. Until then catch a game on sundays around noon… I wish it would be open more often!

Vine Street and Hollywood you can’t miss it with Kobe bigger than life painting. This is the same place we had the Nike Live with Kobe presentation.

Right across is the newly built W hotel and who stands in the middle of that is Derek Fisher. He is really popular amongst the Lakers and this billboard is quite promising since he is holding the NBA trophee in his hands. What does that tell you?

Beverly Hills 90210 BalliN’

Although BH is not notoriously known for basketball, Monday night at Beverly Hills take an other face. We play on a team called Run N Gun (first seat for playoffs) in this adult league. I like the blend of corporate ballers mixed with some ex pros, college players and complete average Joe’s.

Across the street from Olympic at Roxbury park you can catch some of these guys playing after 4pm or on week ends all day. Those are average to good physical runs, lookout for some serious hacks…

We have a variety of players that come every week but for most of our guys basketball is their day job, so when they come and play from 12-3pm its just like an other day in the office.

All you recreational ballers are gonna have to get your game up if you want to keep up with the competition. Games are to 9 no and 1′s winners go up a court and loosers get down or next 5.

Come catch some runs almost any day of the week at memorial in Santa Monica. One side half court with old skool cats and the other 5 on 5 with fresh legs youngsters and a cool mix of people. $2 at the door.

In the afternoon a lot of pro players come and work out. Its a good time to work on your game 1on1 and put up shots.

For all the real ballers that are willing to sacrifice there saturday night to go ball early in the morning on sunday and catch the best runs of the week make it to SMC.

When you get there make sure to holla at Chuck and throw him a $2 tip if you don’t wanna stay on the side line for hours. This run is filled with college players, rap stars, pro ballers…everyone plays strong and the games have a good flow since Chuck will not allow any argument.

C.U.R.E., A Better LA, and A Foundation for Kids, are excited to be working with Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation in sponsoring this Father’s Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 19th 2010!

The Tournament will take place in Helen Keller Park (1045 W. 126th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90044).

Ages 11 and up.

No registration fees! FREE food!!

Activities to include, but not limited to, BATTING BOOTH, BASKETBALL BOOTH, GOLF, and many more fun games!!

The winning team will receive a trophy!

-Easy going hispanic runs on one court and a bit more competitive on the other. Poor to fair comp with a good atmosphere.

Every sunday morning around 11am the SMBA holds a open run for older players and recreational ballers. Its $5 to play with good group of guys
