Metta World Peace in Quarterfinals Showdown this Sunday, August 10th on Venice Beach
VENICE, CA – Twelve teams of pro’s, NCAA prospects, high school standouts and street ball stars have been battling it out all summer for bragging rights and more importantly, the love of the game. The fast paced, entertaining brand of ball played at the VBL will be ampliTied this week by the adrenaline laced intensity known as playoff basketball.
Last Sunday, four teams – Swagg Media, the Mean Ones, Pro Shot West and Sun Bock – were eliminated from playoff contention. This Sunday, four more will see their hopes diminished. 2013 VBL MVP Tristan Wilson and the #1 seed Brandblack All- Stars look to complete their undefeated season but will need to start with a win over NBA World Champion Metta World Peace and his team Court Side.
Rumors are swirling that MWP is calling for the assistance of his former Lakers teammates and others around the league. “It doesn’t matter,” Brandblack star forward Kwame “Freak of Nature” Alexander boldly stated when told of the gossip. The matchup is slated for Sunday August, 10th at 5PM PST.
As usual a full day of music and festivities are planned starting at 9am with the Kids Venice Basketball League (KVBL) camp presented by new 501(c)3 partners, the Hoop Foundation (Inglewood, CA). This week KVBL welcomes guest clinic instruc- tor and 14 year NBA veteran Doug Christie to Venice Beach.
