VBL WEEKEND 2

Sunday, June 17th, 2012 RECAP

Man it feels good to be back! Although the day was a little chilly, things started to heat up once Venice All Stars and the Beach Warriors took to the court in Game 1.  Beach Warriors couldn’t stand the heat and were forced to get out the kitchen, ending the first game of the day with a 14 point deficit against the Venice All-Stars 75-61.

VBL continued the afternoon with close games into the evening between White Collars versus APL and 3G’s versus Sunblock. Having 4 out of 5 of their players scoring in the double digits, APL propelled but could not quite follow through and White Collars’ consistent shooting led to a 4 point victory over  the Athletic Propulsion Labs’ team. Final score 56-52.

The Mouth Offs gave United Nations something to talk about, claiming a 10 point victory over the international opponents. Spyderman led in scoring with 13 points and typical Stretch led the team with 8 rebounds. Clean came supa fresh doing a little bit of both having scored 10 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. The Mute led United Nations with 14 points and the team was supported in scoring from every player but lack of rebounding is what lost this one for the UN. The Mouth Offs took the W over United Nations 51-41.

The final game was down to the wire and Sunblock’s Go HAM Rookie came out with a solid 16 points, leading the team in scoring. But the Rookie couldn’t do it on his own and the lead teeter tottered between 3G and Sunblock throughout the game. Weezy smashed the boards and managed a double double in the low scoring game with 10 rebounds and 10 points. Tied up to the final second, 3G converted their last defensive stance into a steal and fast break, finishing the layup for the win. Final score 48-46.

That was it for the weekend. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported! The VBL looks forward to bigger and better things this summer season and none of this is possible without our fans & sponsors!
